BIREL DRIVERS CONTINUE WITH FORMIDABLE FORM
Zwartkops raceway held the final round of the Northern Regions RMC qualifiers on Sunday 20 September. We are pleased to announce that Birel drivers won in every class where Birel chassis are permitted.
Mini max was once again a tussle between Birel driver Dewald Brummer, and Castrol Toyota Birel driver Morgan McColl. Brummer kept his cool to take the win ahead of McColl. Brummer leads the championship standings ahead of McColl going into the SARMC finals.
Junior Max was very exciting; with Birel drivers Aston Hare and Ryan Frost making it a one two in the final .There was a great tussle between Frost and Hare throughout the race. A back marker put an end to Frost’s challenge on the third last lap. Hare maintained the one second lead to take the win. Hare, Venter, Owens and Frost are all in championship contention. The SARMC final will definitely be a nail biting race.

Sean Frost pulled an excellent race win out the bag in the final aboard his Birel. He came from fifth on the grid after making some set up changes. In a calculated drive he closed down the leaders, passed them and took the race win. He continues to lead the championship standings. Olivier Calkoen put in a strong performance to take fourth, closely followed by Duke Ridgway. Kade Tame finished in a respectable sixth, with new comer to the series – Adrian Wood – placing his Birel in seventh. Rory Atkinson suffered an unlucky crash in the final despite being a front runner throughout the pre final.

Birel has had a very competitive year in DD2. Ian Young continued this by beating Caleb Williams to take the final win. He looks forward to continuing this form at the final event. Nicholas Toner, Eugene Britz and Laurent Calkoen were always in the mix aboard there Birels. George Dos Ramos made it another Birel class win by dominating the DD2 masters class aboard his Birel despite running out of fuel on the last corner.
Neil Curtis and Leeroy Poulter both commented that it was great to take 5 out of 5 wins for Birel and they are aiming for nothing less at the final on 4/5 October.
