ZWARTKOPS SARMC REPORT 19 JULY
BIREL ON TOP
Birel drivers once again were in the limelight at the Zwartkops SARMC round held on 19 July.
Youngster Dewald Brummer dominated proceedings in the mini max class taking wins in both the pre final and final. Castrol Toyota development driver Morgan McColl made it a Birel 1, 2 by finishing second in the final. Brummer and Mccoll are now placed first and second in the overall SARMC mini max championships.
Junior max was a much more closely fought affair, with Liam Venter producing a consistent drive to take the final win. Raoul Owens and Aston Hare had strong but unlucky performances finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Venter, Hare and Owens are well placed in the overall standings, each of them looking to take the championship.

Sean Frost, Chad Van Beurden, Olivier Calkoen and Duke Ridgway made it a Birel 1,2,3,4 in qualifying. Chad Van Beurden dominated proceedings in the final and pre final taking both wins with a superb performance.
Sean Frost was placed second in the pre final, but suffered with an incorrect setup in the final placing him fourth. Just in front of him in the final was Rory Atkinson making his second appearance for the year. Olivier Calkoen and Duke Ridgway placed fifth and sixth respectively. Frost leads the overall standings ahead of Ridgway.
DD2 saw another battle between Caleb Williams and Ian Young. Unfortunately this ended in tears for both drivers, with Young ending up with a fourth place in the final. Justin Allison did fantastically well aboard his Birel to be placed second in the Final. George Dos Ramos made it another win for Birel by dominating the dd2 masters class.
125 GP produced some excellent racing with Clint Jones and Allan Thompson claiming two of the heat wins for Birel. Also in the mix was Deon Auby, Tony Baartman, Rob Bakewell and the Swanepoel brothers. This class is showing signs of good growth and excellent racing.
All in all a great race day for Birel drivers. We look forward to the remainder of this championship to bring home some titles for the brand.
